Food regulations and hygiene are the main reasons. We looked at alternatives but how you manufacture, what packaging material you use and how you sell products that fall within the food industry are heavily regulated. People have asked us “Why don’t you just use refill pouches?”. Hygiene is the main reason. Vitamin capsules have a shelf life, the shelf life depends on the ingredients, exposure to air, sun, storage etc. Bacteria can easily build up in the jar. That is why we use a refill system, so we can keep the vitamins fresh but at the same time minimize plastic usage.
